Culinary champion
In 2006, Brigitte tossed her life into the blender, leaving a Big Four accounting job in her native California for an adventure in Kentucky to join her boyfriend Michael Prather and enroll in cooking school. That decision has yielded delicious results. Brigitte, 27, an April graduate of Sullivan's 18-month culinary arts program, found herself in Beijing this summer, part of a select group of Sullivan students and instructors pulling duty with a New York catering team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She worked in hospitality at the USA House, a party venue that put on whopping spreads for team celebrations, corporate sponsors and dignitaries. "It was the best thing I have ever done." Brigitte's talent is taking her places. Last year, she traveled to Napa Valley for the Sutter Home Build a Better Burger finals, winning first runner-up in her category for her Vietnamese Five-Spice Pork Burger. "Being out there made me realize I was completely confident cooking for an audience, that I revel in it." Keep an eye on The Food Network in the months ahead for a yet-to-announced appearance by Brigitte.
